The 2012 Hyundai Accent is redesigned with freshened styling, more power, and a new 4-door hatchback body style. This revamped subcompact car rides on a wheelbase that is 2.8 inches longer than the 2006-2011 version. The 4-door sedan body style returns in GLS trim. New is a 4-door hatchback to replace the former 2-door hatchback, and it comes in GS and sporty SE forms. The sole engine is a new 138-horsepower 1.6-liter 4-cylinder. This replaces a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine with 110 horsepower.
Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic, which replace a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic, respectively. Safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain-side airbags, and front-side airbags. A wireless cell-phone link is standard on the SE and optional on the automatic-transmission GLS. SE models have specific trim and wheels.
